This is the second time that the club has operated an amateur team.

The first attempt was made in 1986 and the team ran for 5 seasons. In that time they were reasonably successful as the trophy wins listed below show.

After a lapse of 12 seasons it was decided to enter the amateur set up again when Ronnie Hall, the grandson of Willie Hall who managed the 1961 Scottish U17 Cup winning side, started up the present team. One of the aims was to give players moving on from the U21 side an opportunity to continue playing football and this has largely been achieved.

Steady progress has been made and the team has been promoted twice culminating in them playing in the Premier Division of the League in season 2006/07. A promising start was made and it looked as if there would be no difficulty in maintaining their position at that level. However as the season progressed the loss of key players for a number of reasons led to a run of bad results and relagation.
